Bravo! Chorale: Since it was founded in 1993 the Bravo! Vancouver Chorale (click here for member list) has grown to become a 65-member auditioned civic choral ensemble, and has established itself as one of the premiere choral groups in the Pacific Northwest. The Bravo! Chorale includes singers from all walks of life, and our members live in and travel from communities throughout the Southwest Washington/Portland Metro region (including Battle Ground, Beaverton, Brush Prairie, Camas, Clackamas, Forest Grove, Happy Valley, Milwaukie, Portland, Vancouver & Washougal) to join together to make great music. Now in its 14th season, the Chorale has performed a wide variety of sacred and secular repertoire over the years, including Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis & Ninth Symphony, Felix Mendelssohn’s St. Paul Oratorio, Brahms’ German Requiem, J.S. Bach’s St. Matthew Passion, the Requiems of Mozart, Gabriel Fauré, Maurice Duruflé and Guiseppe Verdi, Joseph Haydn’s Te Deum and The Creation, and Francis Poulenc’s Gloria to name just a few. In addition to major classical choral works, the Chorale is also equally at home performing jazz and popular music. It has performed concerts of Duke Ellington’s inspiring Sacred Concert and Dave Brubeck’s eclectic To Hope: A Celebration; as well as songs from Broadway musicals, American folk and patriotic songs, Negro Spirituals and more. The Chorale has released two CD recordings, Hear My Prayer: The American Spiritual, and a live recording of Handel’s Messiah: An Oratorio. In July 2001 the Chorale engaged in its first national tour to Washington D.C. and New York City, with performances at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall and the 25th Anniversary National Pastoral Musician’s National Conference in Washington D.C. The New Washingtonians Jazz Orchestra of the Duke Ellington School for the Performing Arts collaborated with the Chorale on this tour. This year the Chorale will be featured on Handel’s Messiah, Bach’s St. John Passion, and our concert version of The Music Man. Washington Chamber Orchestra: The Chamber Orchestra (click here for member list) is comprised of 19-35 professional freelance musicians from Portland, Vancouver & Eugene. They perform with regional orchestras including: Oregon Symphony, Eugene Symphony, Portland Opera, Tacoma Symphony, Spokane Symphony, Columbia Symphony and others. Their diverse backgrounds includes performances in orchestras ranging from the Metropolitan Opera to the Seattle Symphony, and many have been trained and educated at music conservatories and universities around the country.
